The world's event machinery is built for arenas. But most of what makes Niagara-on-the-Lake worth visiting happens in rooms of forty — the trio in your taproom, the tasting on your patio, the ghost walk at your gate. Vikenda exists to fill those rooms.
Why we built this
When someone asks "what's on this weekend?" — whether they ask a search engine, an AI assistant, or a friend — the answer shouldn't depend on who has a marketing department. We gather every public event in Niagara-on-the-Lake, verify it against its source, and publish it where humans and machines actually look. Your Thursday night stands on equal footing with anything the mega-platforms promote, because the answer to "what's on?" should be decided by what's good, not what's advertised.
The goal, plainly: more of your seats filled, more predictably, with none of your time spent on it.
Found yourself listed and wondered who we are?
That's the system working — being discoverable shouldn't require signing up for anything. Here's our side of the deal, and it doesn't change:
- Your listing is free. Always. We will never charge a venue to exist here, and paid placement (when it arrives) will never decide what's true or what's listed.
- Traffic flows to you, not from you. Every listing links to your website and your box office. We publish the facts — dates, times, prices, verified against your own announcements with a visible last-verified timestamp — and send the visitor onward. Your story stays yours to tell.
- You have the final word. Something wrong, missing, or you'd rather not be listed at all? One email: [email protected]. Corrections are fast and removal is no-questions-asked — though we'd rather fix than lose you.
Where this is going
Soon: claim your venue and manage your own listings directly — your events, in your words, published the moment you hit save, with owner status that outranks anything we crawl. Partner venues will get richer profiles, priority placement (always labelled), and referral reporting that shows exactly how many visitors we sent to your door.
